Afghan nationals to vacate Islamabad by December 31 without NOC, says Interior Minister.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has clarified that no Afghan citizen will be able to stay in Islamabad without a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) after Dec 31.
Naqvi said this during his visit to the PIMS Hospital on Wednesday to meet the Rangers, Frontier Corps (FC), and police personnel injured during recent clashes with PTI protesters.
Accompanied by Rangers Punjab DG Maj Gen Muhammad Atif, the minister personally inquired about the well-being of each injured officer and praised their bravery and high morale.
The minister also issued orders to provide the best medical treatment to the injured personnel and hailed them as “heroes of the nation”. He said,” Despite the mischief, you showed patience and tolerance.”
Naqvi also denied claims of fatalities during the operation against protesters.
“No policeman carried a gun during the operation. I challenge those spreading false propaganda to name a single individual who was killed,” he asserted.
He praised the peaceful resolution of the protests, adding, “It is good that the protesters left with dignity.”
The minister also denounced Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, alleging that his actions have left him with no defense for his conduct.
Naqvi announced the government’s intention to take legal action against the PTI and informed that a detailed report on the situation would be presented to the Islamabad High Court and the federal cabinet.
The minister confirmed that the situation in Islamabad had largely returned to normal.
