ECP stops PM from attending in a rally in Lower Dir

Pakistan’s Election Commission prevented Prime Minister Imran Khan from attending a rally in Lower Dir on Friday while issuing a new election code based on consultations with political parties.

The ECP has issued a new Code of Conduct under which members of parliament may participate in electoral campaigns, but public office holders are prohibited from doing so.

The new election code maintains an embargo on public officeholders who are unable to participate in the election camp.

Prime Minister Khan will address a public gathering in Lower Dir in connection with the second phase of local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it is worth noting.
