JKT group engage PML-Q over ouster of Usman Buzdar

LAHORE: Following the submission of a resolution of no-confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly, groups within the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are agitating for the removal of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

After Buzdar proclaimed affiliation with the former, trying to “rescue” the party after “loyalists were marginalized” following PM Imran Khan’s rise to power, the two disgruntled PTI sections, Tareen and Aleem Khan banded together against him.

According to The News, a team from the Jahangir Khan Tareen group led by Punjab provincial minister Nauman Langrial met PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at his residence on Wednesday.

At the meeting, the delegation, which included provincial ministers Ajmal Cheema, Aun Chaudhry, Lala Tahir Randhawa, Abdul Hayyi Dasti, and Imran Shah, held a lengthy discussion about the present political scenario in Punjab.

Elahi, who is also the Punjab Assembly’s speaker, agreed to keep in touch with the Tareen group for the “betterment” of the state and its people.

Elahi also inquired about Tareen, who is presently undergoing medical treatment in London, and wished him well.

Meanwhile, Langrial has approached the provincial assembly secretariat about filing a no-trust motion against Buzdar.

Langrial said that Punjab had been destroyed and the group would have to come to the fore in the interest of the people as they had decided to remove Buzdar. He called upon Elahi to support the Tareen group in this regard, expressing an intention to call on Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain soon.

Aleem Khan has joined Jahangir Tareen’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party

Aleem Khan, a former senior Punjab minister, has joined the Tareen group, stating that if a no-confidence motion is filed against Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the group will decide on its next course of action.

The former provincial minister said he would not have been “sad” if the PTI’s popularity had increased, but he bemoaned the government’s dire predicament.

“PTI supporters and voters are dissatisfied with the government’s performance in Punjab. As a result, we decided to organize an [club] of like-minded people who had made sacrifices for the party.”

In the previous four days, the ex-minister said he spoke with roughly 40 MPAs, the majority of whom expressed concern about the government’s status in Punjab.
