At least 18 have been killed in horrific plane crash in Nepal.
A Saurya Airlines aircraft crashed and caught fire during takeoff at Nepal’s Kathmandu airport on Wednesday, The Asian Mirror reported.
The tragic incident happened at the Tribhuvan International Airport where the Pokhara-bound flight with 19 people on board met the accident at 11am local time.
“It (the plane) caught fire after skidding off the runway at Kathmandu airport and crashing into a field east of the runway,” Airport Security Chief Arjun Chand Thakuri said.

According to the sources, the Saurya Airlines airplane had caught fire and was “releasing a significant plume of smoke”.

An official said that a fire which erupted from the aircraft has been controlled.
However, the identity of the passengers is yet to be known.
Saurya Airlines exclusively flies Bombardier CRJ 200 jets, according to its website.
As 18 killed in horrific plane crash in Nepal, Nepal is known for its poor air safety record with many horrific incidents happened in the past.
Earlier, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Airbus crashed into a hillside while approaching Kathmandu, killing 167 people in 1992.
Recently, in January 2023, a Yeti Airlines flight crashed near the central city of Pokhara.
All 72 people on board, including passengers and crew members, were killed in the incident.
