A meeting between National Assembly Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif and Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has been postponed.
The PML-N president, according to sources, has asked the PML-Q leadership to dinner; however, the latter is yet to confirm their availability.
They further claimed that Shahbaz had invited PML-Q leaders Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi last week and that they had pledged to respond in two days; however, no response has yet been received.
Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, will meet with the Chaudhry brothers.
According to reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet with the Chaudhry brothers of the PML-Q soon, as the opposition seeks to destabilize the present administration by targeting PTI allies.
The prime minister is in Punjab for a one-day visit and will meet with the senior brass of the PML-Q, who are friends of the government in Punjab and the Centre.
According to reports, the premier will pay attention to the PML-concerns Q’s and strive to keep their support.
Last week, many Opposition leaders met with the Chaudhry brothers in Pakistan in order to enlist their support for their no-confidence move against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Pervaiz Elahi’s name is on the table for CM Punjab by the PPP and JUI-F.
Earlier, the Opposition parties raised the political temperature in the country by putting an option on the table before PML-N to offer Punjab’s chief ministership to PTI’s close ally PML-Q in order to successfully move a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly, according to Geo News.
On Wednesday, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, chairman Bilawal Bhutto, and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met with PML-N president and NA opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif at his home.
According to sources, opposition parties addressed PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi’s candidacy for Punjab’s chief ministership during the meeting.
“The JUI-F and PPP have recommended Pervaiz Elahi as Punjab chief minister in order to enlist the support of the PML-Q, while the leaderships of both parties were lobbying the PML-N on this issue,” sources stated.
According to sources familiar with the situation, if the CM Punjab’s portfolio is offered to Pervaiz Elahi, the PML-Q will support the opposition in Punjab and at the national level in a no-confidence motion.
Meanwhile, according to well-informed sources, the PML-N has handed party supremo Nawaz Sharif the authority to make the ultimate decision on handing over the CM Punjab portfolio to Pervaiz Elahi.
