“You need only one idea to change the world….” More than Entrepreneurs, motivational speakers have promoted the idea of reading self-help books. That one freaking idea has not plumed upon the world at large but the sale of the motivational books have given hefty profit to the authors. It is a fact that cannot be denied, these books do give a certain idea about how to live the life one wants, however they are of no use in a longer run.
This generation is behind the compact ways to reach the destination, neglecting to learn about actual ways to survive the art of living. The current times require smart work but it demands sensibility. The sensibility of handling the success, the sensibility of being humble, the sensibility of enhancing growth, the sensibility of handling the ups and downs of life, etcetera.
The arrival of British, the struggle of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan for the adoption of English language and the criticism of religious scholars have dissected the people of Pakistan with most effect on Generation-X (circa 1965-1980). Many jokes have been made and debates are done through famous writers as well as common masses about the advantages and the disadvantages of both languages.
However, speaking English and speaking sensibly in English are two different things. This rule also applies to the cultural as well as other foreign languages. To get the facts and figures clear, one has to have the exposure towards the correct knowledge coupled with the righteous know how about the current world.
Now a days, social media is mostly used by either Generation-Z (Circa 1997-2012) or Generation-X. The circulation of information is far easy as the target audience blindly relies on social media’s trending reels without knowing that the 30 seconds reel is the 10 percent extract of hell lot of information that is equal to half knowledge, which is dangerous. There used to be times when one scholar used to speak and the audience used to listen. But now if one talks to their youngers, they would reply “we know everything” because they have watched the reels (ha-ha). The Generation-Z is not in the favor of higher education, like the people of Sandwich Generation (our uncles and father, who have not allowed women to give access to the education because they think they know everything.
Unfortunately, there have been mushroom growth of universities in Pakistan. Everyone have access to the education, unlike the developed countries, which is somehow good but alarming in a longer run for the nation. The higher educational model of the United States of America does not allow each and every one to ingress higher education. Being a developed country, they higher counselors for grad schools, who monitors the performances of each and every student separately. After that, they give two options, either to go for services industry or higher education.
The sole purpose of the whole process is to establish a technocratic setup for the development of their nation. In current times, the job seekers as well as employers who are degree holders, are complaining of undervaluation of their capabilities. I, as an individual, admire the hard work of social media influencers. However, the money in the hands of teenagers have dangerously changed the whole direction and attitude of the generation. These days, youngsters are behind the money and not to educate themselves, what calamity! I agree to the irony that being a developing country, who is the victim of chronic inflation, there are not enough jobs to cater all the unemployed generation. However, I also believe that the dissection of avenues can eradicate the disguised employment.
The Indian philosopher, Osho once said;
“Nobody is superior, nobody is inferior, but nobody is equal either.”
I, as a rebellious Zillennial (born in the middle of 2000 and 1990), have questioned the generational curses that includes unwanted body, class, creed, color shaming and women related issues, respectfully. But the current time’s adolescent have absolutely omit the idea of right and wrongs. One of the examples is the adoption of “Heera Mandi Trends”. Though, I admire the hard work of the artists at the fore and behind the camera, but I don’t support the idea of embracing the malpractices of the courtesans living in the Diamond Market despite of having transcendence of Urdu decorum. Though, Generation-Z is pretty opinionated about almost everything but sadly, not wise enough to follow the protocol of life, family and disposition. One has to have enough sense to determine what is going behind the veils.
At the times of Mughal State, women of honor used to live in proper arrangements. They were also brave enough to even lead the wars along with their house hold. But they were not allowed to have interactions with unlawful men, which the courtesan were bold enough to do. There was a defined line between the women of honor and others, which makes them respectable. I am not saying that these women are substandard, but the circumstances through which they have been brought about and presented in front of the world, is pretty horrific. We must be grateful to the men in our family who have been protecting our dignities for generations. I just don’t want to drag the article towards Islamic discussions because it is one’s personal covet, but the culture we have now adopted and named it as “modernism” is actually backwardness. As the women before the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), used to show their adornments. Then the instructions of covering their dignities were descended upon the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). According to this reference, the women who hide their beauty are modern, not those showing their hidden parts.
The whole discussion is an intention to guide the current generation to follow the sensible ways of life. For embracing anything, one has to have their historical facts correct. The exposure of education is highly important to change the mindset towards betterment of both society and one’s own self. One of the advice that I constantly give is to be respectful towards others and their opinions. The differences and point of views can be put forward without damaging the dignity and honor of the opponent unaccompanied by discrimination of age and gender. Always remember; “baa dab ba naseeb, bay adab bay naseeb!”
