Decision in the Hands of PML-N Leadership:
The fate of Ata Tarar hangs in the balance as the matter has been escalated to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.
It is expected that Nawaz Sharif will engage in consultations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before reaching a final decision on whether to retain Tarar or opt for a replacement.
Background:
As PML-N is likely to remove Ata Tarar as information minister, Ata Tarar secured his position in the National Assembly of Pakistan during the 2024 general elections, representing Constituency NA-127 Lahore-XI.
His victory saw him garner 98,210 votes, triumphing over PTI-backed independent candidate Malik Zaheer Abbas and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Following his electoral success, Ata Tarar was inducted into Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s federal cabinet on 11 March, assuming the role of Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
However, recent developments suggest his tenure may be subject to reevaluation.
