PTI founder will be released within 10 days, says Latif Khosa.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sardar Latif Khosa said that PTI founder Imran Khan will be released within 10 days.

This follows the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) decision to approve Imran Khan’s bail application in a high-profile corruption case involving 190 million pounds.

Legal Developments:

A two-member bench, comprising IHC CJ Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, reserved the verdict after the completion of arguments, ultimately ordering the release of Imran Khan upon the submission of a surety bond of Rs1 million.

However, it’s noteworthy that Imran Khan will continue to be detained due to additional pending cases, including those concerning cipher and Nikkah.

Historical Context:

Latif Khosa highlighted the historical parallels, citing the unjust execution of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was hanged following his display of a cipher in Rawalpindi’s Raja Bazar.

The court’s ruling, 45 years later, deeming the execution unlawful, adds a layer of significance to the current legal proceedings.

NAB Case:

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had initiated an investigation into Imran Khan and others for alleged misconduct related to the Al Qadir University Trust, purportedly resulting in a substantial loss to the national exchequer.

The charges allege improper adjustment of funds, including Rs50 billion (190 million pounds at the time), received from Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA).

Legal Proceedings:

In December 2023, NAB filed a corruption reference against Imran Khan and seven others, including his wife, in connection with the Al-Qadir University project.

Notably, the PTI chief had established the Trust for the Al-Qadir University Project on December 26, 2019.

Ongoing Scrutiny:

Despite the bail approval, Imran Khan’s legal troubles are far from over, with the cipher and Nikkah cases still pending.

The complexities of the legal landscape, coupled with the political implications, ensure continued scrutiny of the proceedings in the days to come.
