Former Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof retires from cricket.

Bismah Maroof has decided to retire from all forms of international cricket.

She has taken this decision after Pakistan’s recent poor performance in the ODI series against West Indies.

Stellar Career Highlights:

Bismah Maroof’s journey in international cricket began in 2006 with her ODI debut against India and her T20I debut against Ireland in 2009.

Over the course of her illustrious career spanning 276 international matches, she accumulated an impressive tally of 6,262 runs, including 33 half-centuries.

Bismah also showcased her bowling prowess, taking 80 wickets with her right-arm leg-spin, cementing her status as one of Pakistan’s most versatile players.

During her tenure, Bismah Maroof was part of the historic Pakistan women’s team that secured Gold Medals at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014.

She captained the national side in 96 international matches, showing exceptional leadership and dedication on and off the field.

World Cup Legacy:

Bismah’s impact was felt on the global stage, representing Pakistan in four ICC Women’s 50-over World Cups (2009, 2013, 2017, and 2022) and eight ICC Women’s T20 World Cups (2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2023).

She led the team in crucial editions of these tournaments, including the 2020 and 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cups.

Expressing her sentiments on retiring from the sport, Bismah Maroof stated, “I have decided to retire from the game I love the most. It has been an incredible journey, filled with challenges, victories, and unforgettable memories.”

“I also want to extend my thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board for believing in me and providing the platform to showcase my talent. The support from the PCB has been invaluable, particularly in implementing the first-ever parental policy for me, which enabled me to represent my country at the highest level while being a mother.”

She acknowledged the unwavering support of her family throughout her cricketing career.

Bismah extended her gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for providing her with the platform to showcase her talent.

She highlighted the importance of the PCB’s parental policy, which enabled her to excel in cricket while embracing motherhood.
