There is probably an Indian hand in Amir Tamba’s murder, says Mohsin Naqvi.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has hinted at India’s potential involvement in the murder of Amir Sarfraz Tamba, a figure allegedly linked to the death of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in 2013.
Tamba was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in Islampura, Lahore, and later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigation into Amir Tamba’s Murder:
Minister Naqvi suggested that Tamba’s killing might be part of a broader pattern of Indian interference, pointing out four similar incidents.
He urged caution, emphasizing that conclusive statements should await the completion of the ongoing investigation.
The case is intricately linked to Tamba’s alleged role in the 2013 assault on Sarabjit Singh, for which he and another individual were initially held responsible but later acquitted due to witnesses retracting their statements.

“Police are investigating the firing on Amir Tamba and so far, they suspect India is behind it. India was involved in four other murder incidents on a similar pattern as well. However, it will not be suitable to say anything until the investigation is complete,” he said addressing the media at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) office in Lahore.
Acknowledgement of Indian Cross-Border Operations:
Tensions escalated following Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh‘s admission of his government’s policy of targeted killings in Pakistan.
This admission came after reports from The Guardian detailed such operations, with Singh asserting India’s readiness to pursue individuals attempting terrorist activities across borders.
“India always wants to maintain good relations with its neighbouring countries … But if anyone shows India the angry eyes again and again, comes to India and tries to promote terrorist activities, we will not spare them,” Singh said.
Pakistan’s Response and Call for International Scrutiny:
Pakistan swiftly reacted to Singh’s statements, condemning them as hyper-nationalistic and reaffirming its commitment to regional peace.
The Pakistani Foreign Office underscored the nation’s resolve to safeguard its sovereignty and called for international accountability regarding India’s alleged extrajudicial actions.
“Pakistan has always demonstrated its commitment to peace in the region. However, our desire for peace should not be misconstrued. History attests to Pakistan’s firm resolve and ability to protect and defend itself,” the statement read.
“India’s assertion of its preparedness to extra-judicially execute more civilians, arbitrarily pronounced as ‘terrorists’, inside Pakistan constitutes a clear admission of culpability. It is imperative for the international community to hold India accountable for its heinous and illegal actions,” it had added.
The FO had reiterated Pakistan’s resolution in its “intent and ability to safeguard its sovereignty against any act of aggression, as demonstrated by its robust response to India’s reckless incursion in February 2019, which laid bare India’s hollow claims of military superiority.”
