Bilawal Zardari accuses opposition of plotting against country.
In a strong condemnation of the PTI-led “grand opposition alliance,” Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has accused them of scheming against the country under the pretext of alleging electoral fraud.
Speaking at a public gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana, to mark the 45th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Bilawal asserted that certain forces have historically opposed democracy and conspired against the state, but he credited President Asif Ali Zardari for thwarting their plans.
“Many forces did not believe in democracy. They used to hatch conspiracies but President Asif Ali Zardari foiled their designs.”
Warning Against PNA-II and Conspiracies
Bilawal’s remarks indirectly targeted the current opposition alliance, suggesting that some politicians are attempting to initiate a Pakistan National Alliance (PNA)-II, akin to the nine-party coalition formed in 1977 against the Bhutto government.
He criticized unnamed politicians for endangering the nation and its people due to “personal ego,” alleging that they are spreading baseless claims of electoral rigging that could negatively impact the country’s economy.
Reactions to Recent Opposition Protests
Bilawal’s comments followed a recent protest by the PTI-led opposition alliance, which includes parties like the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP), Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), citing alleged extensive rigging in the February 8 elections.
Calls for National Reconciliation and Constitutional Adherence
Highlighting the urgent need for “national reconciliation” to navigate the country out of its current crisis, Bilawal urged politicians to refrain from engaging in abusive politics and adhere strictly to the Constitution.
He warned that any derailment of democracy would have severe repercussions for ordinary citizens and emphasized that politicians must prioritize leading the country out of crisis.
Zardari’s Pledge for Economic Stability
As Bilawal Zardari accuses opposition of plotting against country, separately, PPP co-chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari pledged continued support for the government in achieving economic stability and prosperity.
Zardari expressed confidence that Pakistan’s economic challenges could be overcome by effectively harnessing the nation’s vast mineral and natural resources.
