Bisham attack: Bus transporting Chinese engineers was not 'bomb-proof'

A recent investigation into the tragic Bisham attack last month in northwest Pakistan, which claimed the lives of Chinese workers and their local driver, has unveiled concerning findings regarding the level of protection provided to the victims.

The report has highlighted that the bus transporting the Chinese engineers was not adequately armored against bullets or bombs, exposing the occupants to heightened risks.

Details of Vulnerability

According to the investigation report, the targeted bus descended approximately 300 feet following the blast, indicating the severity of the attack.

Notably, another bus in the convoy managed to remain at least 15 feet away from the affected vehicle, possibly averting further casualties.

Evidence Points to Afghan Planning

The investigation has also shed light on the origins of the attack, suggesting that it was planned in neighboring Afghanistan, known as a sanctuary for groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist entities.

A joint committee comprising police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has submitted its report to the federal government, emphasizing the Afghan link to the orchestrated assault.

Arrests Made Based on Crime Scene Evidence

In response to the investigation’s findings, four individuals suspected of facilitating the Bisham suicide attack have been arrested.

The arrests were reportedly supported by evidence collected from the crime scene, underscoring efforts to hold accountable those responsible for the tragic incident.
