Zardari to be PPP’s nominee for president’s office. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari announced on Sunday that his party’s co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari, would be nominated as the PPP‘s candidate for the presidency.

This declaration was made during a rally in Thatta, held to celebrate the PPP’s success in the February 8 general elections in Sindh.

Addressing a crowd of supporters, Bilawal expressed confidence in his father’s ability to lead the nation effectively, stating that Zardari would work towards preserving the unity of the federation and easing political tensions across the country.

Emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the public interest over personal agendas, Bilawal called on all political parties to join hands in safeguarding democracy and the federation.

He asserted that unity among political parties is essential to overcoming the challenges facing the nation at this critical juncture.

In his speech, Bilawal reiterated the PPP’s commitment to addressing electoral grievances through legal channels, urging all parties to lodge complaints about alleged rigging with the appropriate authorities.

Regarding leadership roles, Bilawal clarified that he has no aspirations for the position of Prime Minister, emphasizing instead his dedication to resolving the issues faced by the people.

He pledged to mobilize public protests if democracy or the federation is threatened, calling on PPP supporters to stand united in the face of adversity.

Bilawal also provided insights into negotiations with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the formation of the new government.

He revealed that the PML-N proposed a division of the five-year term, offering the first three years to their prime ministerial candidate and the remaining two years to Bilawal, an offer which he declined.

Bilawal expressed confidence in becoming the voice of the people in the National Assembly.

With the PPP securing a significant number of seats in the recent elections across various provinces, Bilawal outlined the party’s priorities, including advocating for the rights of flood-affected communities in Sindh and Balochistan in exchange for support for the Prime Ministerial position.

As Zardari to be PPP’s nominee for president’s office, Bilawal‘s rejection of the PML-N’s proposal underscores the PPP’s unwavering commitment to representing the interests of the Pakistani people and ensuring the stability and prosperity of the nation.
