Asif Ali Zardari to be next Pakistani President in ‘PDM’ 2.0 government. After the inconclusive results of the February 8 general elections in Pakistan, political parties are maneuvering to form a coalition government as none secured a decisive majority in the National Assembly.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), along with other members of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), is actively engaged in negotiations to establish a joint administration.
In a significant development, the PPP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) has finalized arrangements with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to secure key positions within the prospective coalition government.
Notably, Asif Ali Zardari, a prominent figure within the PPP, has emerged as the party’s nominee for the presidency.
Zardari, who previously served as the 11th president of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013, brings considerable political experience to the table.
Hailing from Sindh, he is recognized as a seasoned politician and has held notable positions such as Federal Investment Minister and Chairperson of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Council.
The proposed coalition government, comprising parties such as the PML-N, PPP, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League (PML), Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), and the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), aims to foster a unified approach towards governance.
As Asif Ali Zardari to be next Pakistani President, the decision to form a coalition government was reached following extensive deliberations at a meeting hosted at the residence of Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain
