Two independent candidates join PML-N in National Assembly.
Two independent candidates have declared their allegiance to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in a significant move within the political landscape of Pakistan.
Barrister Aqeel Malik, who clinched victory in NA-54 Taxila with a notable 85,912 votes, emerged triumphant over PTI-backed independent candidate Azra Masood, who secured 73,694 votes.
Malik’s decision to join PML-N was conveyed through a video message where he professed his dedication to the party, attributing his success as a tribute to Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Following suit, Raja Khurram Nawaz, a former prominent figure in PTI ranks, announced his alignment with PML-N after securing victory in NA-48 Islamabad with 69,699 votes.
Nawaz outperformed his PTI-backed independent rival, Ali Bukhari, who garnered 59,851 votes.

Nevertheless, Ali Bukhari has raised objections to Nawaz’s victory, initiating a legal battle to contest the outcome.
The resolution of this dispute will determine whether Nawaz retains his seat or faces a different outcome.
As two independent candidates join PML-N, the entrance of these independent candidates into PML-N’s fold marks a significant development, adding momentum to the party’s presence within the National Assembly.
