Tucker Carlson interviews President Vladimir Putin. Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has conducted an exclusive interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a spokesperson from the Kremlin confirmed on Wednesday.
Describing the encounter as “pro-American,” the conversation marks the first instance of a Western journalist engaging with Putin since the onset of the special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.

The revelation of this unprecedented interview came just a day after Carlson took to X (formerly Twitter) in a video message, asserting the importance of English-speaking audiences hearing directly from the 71-year-old Russian leader.

Carlson decried what he termed as the “corrupt and misleading” nature of mainstream media, stressing the necessity for broader exposure to Putin’s perspective.
“We are not advocating for agreement with Putin’s statements in this interview,” Carlson clarified in a video shared on X, emphasizing the prevailing lack of understanding among most Americans regarding Putin’s motivations behind the invasion of Ukraine and his current objectives.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov shed light on Putin‘s decision to grant the interview to Carlson, citing the journalist’s distinct approach compared to the purportedly “one-sided” coverage of the Ukraine conflict prevalent in Western media outlets.
“When it comes to the countries of the collective West, the large network media, TV channels, (and) large newspapers can in no way boast of even trying to at least look impartial in terms of coverage,” Peskov remarked during a news briefing on Wednesday.
Highlighting the perceived bias in Western media coverage, Peskov expressed the Kremlin’s disinclination to engage with outlets that adopt what they perceive as overtly partisan stances. He underscored the potential limitations of such interactions, suggesting they might yield little benefit.
Responding to queries about the rationale behind choosing Carlson for the interview, Peskov emphasized that the journalist’s approach was characterized by a commitment to American interests, rather than being pro-Russian or pro-Ukrainian.
According to reports from the Russian media outlet TASS, the interview is slated to be broadcasted on Thursday.
