In a chilling case that unfolded in 2020, a Chinese couple, identified as Zhang Bo and Ye Chengchen, met a grim fate as they were executed for the heinous act of throwing Zhang’s two young children off the 15th floor of a residential tower.
The New York Post reported on this distressing incident, shedding light on the gruesome details surrounding the case.
Zhang was convicted of murdering his two children, a two-year-old girl, and a one-year-old boy, while his girlfriend, Ye, faced charges for allegedly pushing him to commit the unthinkable act. Ye reportedly considered the children as “obstacles” to their future together.
Legal proceedings led to the couple being sentenced to death in 2021, but their execution was carried out only recently after a protracted appeals process that resulted in a second trial for both Zhang and Ye. The method of execution involved legal injections.
The tragic chain of events began with Zhang’s extramarital affair with Ye, whom he failed to inform of his existing marriage.
After discovering this betrayal, Ye pressured Zhang into divorcing his wife and later allegedly encouraged him to take the lives of his own children.
Zhang, at the time of the murder, claimed to be asleep, asserting that he only woke up due to the distressing sounds emanating from downstairs.
Meanwhile, the children’s mother revealed that Zhang had requested to take care of their daughter on the very day he committed the unthinkable act.
