The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has enlisted the services of former cricket luminaries Kamran Akmal, Rao Iftikhar Anjum, and Salman Butt as consultant members.

These seasoned ex-cricketers will be working in tandem with chief selector Wahab Riaz, forming a formidable selection panel with immediate effect.

The trio’s inaugural task as consultant members will be to oversee the pivotal five-match T20I series against New Zealand, slated to commence on January 12, 2024.

This responsibility comes on the heels of the conclusion of the Test tour to Australia, adding an extra layer of significance to their roles.

Kamran Akmal, a stalwart of the game, boasts an illustrious career that spanned 15 years, from 2002 to 2017.

His impressive record includes 53 Tests, 157 ODIs, and 58 T20Is, where he amassed a total of 6,871 runs and showcased his prowess with 453 dismissals behind the stumps.

Akmal played a pivotal role in the historic ICC Men’s T20 World Cup victory in 2009 at Lord’s.

Rao Iftikhar Anjum, a name synonymous with cricketing prowess, graced the field in one Test, 62 ODIs, and two T20Is between 2004 and 2010.

His international career saw him secure a commendable 78 wickets, and he was an integral part of the squad that clinched the T20 World Cup in 2009.

Salman Butt, the former Test skipper, etched his name in Pakistan’s cricketing annals with 33 Tests, 78 ODIs, and 24 T20Is.

His batting prowess resulted in a cumulative 5,209 runs across formats, featuring 11 international centuries.

Butt was a linchpin in the victorious T20 World Cup campaign in 2009.
