The cricketer, who represents Karachi Whites, displayed the Palestinian flag on his bat during a match against Lahore Blues, where he scored 35 runs. The incident led to him being summoned by match referee Shozab Raza.
Sources close to the matter revealed that Azam was penalized 50% of his match fee for the violation.
Prior to this, the match referee had cautioned him against showcasing the unapproved logo, emphasizing that it would constitute a breach of the International Cricket Council (ICC) code of conduct, to which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is a signatory.
It was reported that Azam had informed the referee that all of his bats bore the same stickers.
However, the ICC regulations explicitly state that players are prohibited from displaying messages that endorse political, religious, or racial activities or causes on their clothing and equipment.
An official from the PCB confirmed the charges against Azam, indicating a violation of clothing and equipment regulations.
Remarkably, sources verified that Azam had affixed the same sticker to his bat in two previous games of the National T20 Cup, without receiving any warnings.
