Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder story to be released soon on OTT platforms. Production company Matchbox Shots has acquired the rights to create a project based on the life and tragic demise of Sidhu Moose Wala, the acclaimed Indian rapper, singer, and songwriter.

Widely recognized as Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, he catapulted himself from a humble village in Punjab to global music stardom before his untimely murder in broad daylight on May 29, 2022, at the age of 28.

The project will be inspired by the compelling narrative presented in crime journalist Jupinderjit Singh’s bestselling book, “Who Killed Moosewala? The Spiralling Story of Violence in Punjab,” published in 2023. Singh’s work delves into the intricate connections between the music industry and gang conflicts in Punjab, exploring themes of crime, fame, and music in the region.

Matchbox Shots, the production powerhouse behind the venture, is currently deliberating whether the project will manifest as a feature film or an engaging series.

Expressing enthusiasm for the collaboration, Jupinderjit Singh commended Matchbox Shots for their remarkable work in the industry.

Sarita Patil of Matchbox Shots underscored the intriguing relationship between Punjab’s music industry and gang rivalries, citing the book as a solid foundation for their storytelling.

Dikssha Jyote Routray of Matchbox Shots emphasized the complexity of the narrative, calling for a nuanced exploration of crime, fame, and music in Punjab.

Sidhu Moose Wala met a tragic end in Punjab’s Mansa district, where he was shot dead while traveling with his cousin and friend in a jeep to Jawaharke village.

The incident, involving six assailants, shocked the nation and led to an ongoing investigation by Punjab police’s special investigation team (SIT).

The chargesheet, filed against 32 individuals, includes notorious gangsters such as Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.

Sidhu Moose Wala’s musical legacy was defined by chart-topping hits like “So High,” “Same Beef,” “The Last Ride,” “Just Listen,” and “295.”
