New standards to judge ministry’s ‘performance’ in making

Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrested amid protests

MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has stated that a new criterion for evaluating a ministry’s performance is being implemented.

The minister, who is also the vice president of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, made the remarks on Monday, only days after Prime Minister Imran Khan praised the top ten ministries for their achievements.

However, certain members of the federal cabinet, notably Qureshi, have raised concerns about being neglected.

“New standards for evaluating a ministry’s performance have been established,” Qureshi told the reporters.

The prime minister has frequently lauded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Qureshi.

He stated that the Foreign Office’s contribution in rescuing the people stuck in Afghanistan was recognised by the entire globe. “In this sense, the United States has also recognised Pakistan’s contribution.”

After many frontline ministries did not make the top 10, the party’s top 10 performing ministries list was released on Thursday last week, causing resentment within the ranks.

Foreign affairs, finance, information technology, housing, information, and the environment were among the ministries that felt left out.

In fact, the foreign minister issued a letter to Arbab Shahzad, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Establishment, expressing strong reservations about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs being ranked 11th.

Shahzad drafted the criteria by which the top 10 ministries were rated, as well as a following report for the prime minister.

Concerning the no-confidence motion, the minister stated that the opposition was divided within its ranks and that the incumbent government was adequately prepared to counter their action. “It is the opposition’s prerogative to bring a no-confidence resolution, and we will fight it politically.”

He claimed that the split opposition will be crushed, and that the PML-N had two groups as well. The PPP, according to Qureshi, does not want early elections, but the PML-N does.

He claimed the prime minister’s recent visit to China was a huge success, and that the European Union has also invited him.

Foreign Ministers from all Muslim nations will also attend the national parade ceremony on March 23, according to the Foreign Minister.

Qureshi responded to another question on the unfortunate incident in Tulamba by saying that the lynching of a person to death by a crowd in Tulamba was deplorable.

In response to a question about PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, he stated, “Prepare yourself, Bilawal son. I’ll be in Larkana soon. I’ll respond to your questions there.”

Qureshi stated that the PTI would defend Sindh’s rights. “On February 26th, I shall lead the long march.”

The minister wondered where the PML N’s narrative was when it was contacting PTI friends to refute their own assertions.

“The Chaudhry brothers did not support them in the no-confidence vote,” he continued.

In response to a different query, Qureshi stated that farmers were receiving greater prices for their produce.

He predicted that the PTI will win municipal elections and that the prime minister himself would pick candidates.

Qureshi said that the PTI’s victory in Dera Ismail Khan was a sign for Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

In response to a question about the south Punjab fund, he stated that it would be spent locally and that it could not be transferred to other regions of the province.

The foreign minister also praised Muskan Khan, an Indian Muslim girl, for her bravery, stating that the incident revealed India’s genuine face to the world.
