Germany humiliates Elon Musk after remarks about migrant rescue ships. Elon Musk, the owner of X, has recently come into conflict with the German government over his comments regarding the function of migrant rescue ships.

Musk posted a video on Friday that included migrants and aid workers on a boat. The populist far-right Alternative for Germany party, which has taken a harsh position on immigration issues, was lauded by the right-wing user that initially posted the content on X, the platform that replaced Twitter.

“Is the German public aware of this?” Musk wrote in his repost.

German officials ignored Musk on Saturday after he criticised the efforts of migrant rescue ships run by German nonprofit organisations in the Mediterranean Sea. Musk received a direct response on X from the German Federal Foreign Office, which read: “Yes. It’s called saving lives.

Musk retorted that he did not believe the German people were in favour of non-governmental organisations picking up asylum seekers from ill-fated ships in the Mediterranean.

He claimed that bringing rescued migrants to Italian territory on German-operated ships was “surely” an infringement on Italy’s sovereignty.

“So you’re actually proud of it. Interesting,” he wrote to the Foreign Office, adding that he thinks such maritime operations have “invasion vibes.”

As Germany humiliates Elon Musk after remarks about migrant rescue ships, the discussion takes place at a time when immigration is once again a hot political topic in Germany and other European nations, with opposition politicians and government officials disputing over the best way to deal with an influx of more and more immigrant workers.

Alarm has been raised by towns and cities across Germany that there is not enough space to house them and offer kindergarten and school spaces.

In Germany, more over 220,000 asylum requests were made between January and August of this year. About 240,000 persons applied for asylum in total in 2022. More than a million people requested asylum in Germany in 2015–16.
