How to sleep in 60 seconds? It might be unpleasant tossing and turning in bed in the hopes of getting a good night’s sleep, but a new technique called the 4-7-8 method, advocated by renowned ‘The Sleep Doctor’ Michael Breus, can help you fall asleep within 60 seconds.
Several experts recommend using this simple breathing method. Dr. Breus promotes the technique under the handle @thesleepdoctor on TikTok and highlights its effectiveness in decreasing heart rates before bed.
How to sleep in 60 seconds?
Dr Breus explained the technique: “My favorite technique is called 4-7-8 breathing. You slowly breathe in for a count of four, hold for a count of seven, and then slowly breathe out for a count of eight.
The science behind this is fascinating. You really expel excess carbon dioxide, which reduces the amount of work your heart has to do and lowers your heart rate.”
This approach, which is based on ancient yogic practices, has a significant influence on heart rate decrease. Excess carbon dioxide reduces the effort of the heart, resulting in a reduced heart rate.

The notion of breath cycles is introduced in this quick-fix remedy championed by integrative medicine specialist Dr. Andrew Weil. Dr. Weil recommends performing the exercise twice daily for the first month, with a maximum of four breath cycles.
Participants can progress to a maximum of eight cycles as their comfort level increases. Notably, the 4-7-8 ratio is significant, allowing for modification of breathing tempo if longer breath-holding is difficult.
As many people struggle to sleep, the 4-7-8 breathing technique, which has been recommended by experts, offers a promising path to deep and undisturbed sleep.
