As it entered the stadium, where Prime Minister Imran Khan and other international leaders were also present, the Pakistani team competing in the Beijing Winter Olympics received a round of applause from spectators.
In a tweet on Friday, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry stated that dozens of teams entered Beijing’s National Stadium, but only Pakistani and Chinese teams were applauded.
“The Chinese people adore Pakistan, and the applause reflects that sentiment,” he added.

On Wednesday, a five-member Pakistani team arrived in Beijing for the Winter Olympic Games.
“The Pakistani delegation consists of one athlete and four officials,” said Agha Hunain Abbas Khan, Olympic Attaché, Pakistan Embassy Beijing.
Muhammad Karim, an Alpine Skier from Naltar, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), will compete in the Slalom event at the China National Alpine Skiing Centre in Yanging District, Beijing, on February 16.
“I’m incredibly excited and totally prepared to compete in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. I heard they used cutting-edge technology on the ski slopes and had some of the top sports facilities in the world there. Before leaving for China, he told the media, “I can’t wait to see all of these things.”
Participating in the Winter Olympics, according to Muhammad Karim, is a tremendous opportunity to put Pakistan on the map of world sports.
“I am optimistic that in Beijing, I will deliver my best performance and capture the hearts of the Pakistani people,” he said.
Muhammad Karim, 26, is the first Pakistani skier to have competed in both the Sochi and Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in Russia.
The best Pakistani skier is looking forward to this year’s Olympics, which will put Pakistan on the international sporting map.
“I’ve been training for the Beijing Winter Olympics for three years, and my ultimate desire is to compete in the Beijing Winter Olympics and break all of my personal records,” he said.
