The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported earthquake tremors in various districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and other regions on Saturday (PMD).
The shocks, which measured 5.9 on the Richter scale, had their epicentre in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush mountain range, with a depth of 210 kilometres.
Tremors were felt in K-P, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Islamabad, and other parts of the country.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, there has been no loss of life or property in the region (PDMA). The director-general acknowledged that the authority and its officials are in communication with local districts.
According to Indian media, the tremors were also felt in portions of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and along the Line of Control (LoC).
Strong earthquake vibrations were felt across the province on January 1, including in Peshawar, the provincial capital.
There was no loss of life or damage as a result of the earthquake. Due to tectonic plate movement beneath the Hindu Kush mountains, the region is prone to tremors.
