PM Imran first leader from Pakistan to be invited to attend Olympics: Fawad

According to Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry, Prime Minister Imran Khan is the first head of state from Pakistan to be invited to the Olympics.

The premier will be present at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. The inaugural ceremony, which begins at 5 p.m. PST today, will be attended by over 20 heads of state.

In a video statement, the information minister stated that the prime minister held successful video conferences with Chinese industrialists from more than 18 sectors, urging them to engage with Pakistan.

Fawad further mentioned that the prime minister will be interviewed by China Global Television Network (CGTN), the country’s largest television network.

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to China is “extremely crucial” economically and politically, according to Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.

Islamabad is using the visit, which is not technically a bilateral one, to discuss a number of important bilateral matters, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Several discussions were held in Islamabad before the visit to fine-tune the agenda, which focused on increasing trade, attracting investment, and transferring industries from China to Pakistan.

Tarin said the government would seek assistance from China and suggest that Beijing bring industry to Pakistan in a video message.
