Qalandars win second straight in PSL 7

KARACHI: Zaman Khan claimed three wickets and David Wiese two, helping Lahore Qalandars defend 200 runs and win by 29 runs against Peshawar Zalmi in their ninth match.

Zalmi had a batting collapse while chasing a massive 200-run target after Kamran Akmal resisted a bit to lead his club over the chasing line. The right-handed batter scored 41 runs in his comeback from COVID-19, including four boundaries and two sixes.

Despite losing wickets on the other end, Haider Ali continued to score runs. He hammered 49 balls, including three boundaries and as many sixes as he could.

Sherfane Rutherford made 21 runs off 11 balls, including three boundaries and a six, but Zalmi only managed to score 170-9.

Apart from Zaman and Wiese, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Rashid Khan each claimed two wickets.

Fakhar Zaman, who was given the bat first, continued his red-hot form by scoring 66 runs to help Qalandars reach 199-4.

Qalandars, who were given the opportunity to bat first, got off to a strong start thanks to Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar. The opening pair combined for 94 runs, laying a good foundation for the Qalandars to achieve a large total.

Abdullah hit two boundaries and three boundaries in 31 balls to score 41 runs. Fakhar hit six boundaries and three sixes in his 66-run innings off 38 balls.

Kamran Ghulam scored 30 runs, while Mohammad Hafeez batted for 37 runs, including three boundaries and a six.
