WATCH: Dog gets honorary diploma

A dog gets an honorary diploma. When a service dog from Seton Hall University in New Jersey received an honorary diploma for attending all of its owner Grace Mariani’s classes while she was a graduate student there, it stole the show during the event.

Mariani and her service dog, Justin, can be seen receiving diplomas from Seton Hall President Joseph E. Nyre in a video that the university posted on its official Twitter account.

According to UPI, Justin was given an honorary diploma for attending all of his owner’s classes while Mariani was awarded a bachelor of science in education.

The student stated that Justin would support her throughout her career as she pursued her goal of teaching elementary and special education.

Soon after being published by the institution on its Twitter account, the video quickly became popular on social media.

Reacting to the video, a netizen said, “Was great to have been in the same training class at Canine Companions as Grace and Justin! What a wonderful moment!”

Another user congratulated her and thanked the university for sharing this “special moment”.

The dog is a domesticated descendant of the wolf. Also called the domestic dog, it is derived from extinct Pleistocene wolves, and the modern wolf is the dog’s nearest living relative. Dogs were the first species to be domesticated by hunter-gatherers over 15,000 years ago before the development of agriculture.
