Pakistan completes evacuation of all citizens from crisis-hit Sudan.

Pakistan has evacuated all of its nationals stranded in Sudan, which has been overrun by brutal clashes between the armed forces and a rival paramilitary group.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that over 1,000 Pakistanis had been safely evacuated from the conflict-torn country and that the evacuation operations had concluded.

As operations in the North African state came to an end, the Foreign Office stated that evacuations through Saudi Arabia would continue until all Pakistanis were safely returned.

Pakistanis in crisis-affected countries are evacuated to Port Sudan and then transferred to Saudi Arabia, where the Pakistan Air Force returns them home.

Pakistan also expressed gratitude to Beijing and Riyadh for their assistance with the evacuation.

“By Allah’s grace and the tireless efforts of our embassy in Khartoum led by Amb Regi, supported by Saudi Arabia and China, and our teams in Jeddah and Islamabad, we have successfully [and] safely evacuated over 1,000 Pakistanis out of Sudan,” the Foreign Office said in a tweet. With this, our evacuation operations from Sudan have come to an end.”

On Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) announced that over 1,000 Pakistanis would be evacuated from the conflict-torn country within a day, as the repatriation process had begun in the war zone since the opposing forces came face to face.

Sudan’s rival forces accused each other of new violations of a ceasefire as several countries evacuated their citizens.

The recent violence was caused by a power struggle between the commander of the armed forces, General Abdel-Fattah Burhan, and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo.

Burhan and Dagalo are ex-allies who take over the country’s reign in the 2021 coup that derail the North African country’s democratic transition.
