The 17 years old, African elephant named Noor Jahan is struggling for her life in Karachi Zoo. She fell sick a few months back and was treated by some local veterinarians but her condition was getting worse day by day. The news of Noor Jahan’s illness spread on social media for a week.
Administrator Karachi, Dr. Syed Saif Ur Rehman, formed a “nine-member committee” from different countries to take care of Noor Jahan at the Karachi Zoo.
Currently, she’s being treated by foreign veterinarians. Furthermore, the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, visited the zoo and said: “Budget of the zoo will be increased so that animals are treated properly.” He further added that hospitals will be made in the zoo for the speedy treatment of animals.
However, social media is bloated by the aggression, hostility, and opposition towards the management and administration of the zoo. Some people, including a few actresses, showed their aggression on their Instagram stories. Natasha Baig said “I regret to say this, but I think Noor Jahan can only find peace when she dies. Pakistan is truly incapable of showing mercy to animals”
Moreover, Simi Raheel, Yashma Gill, Ushna Shah, and many other people showed antagonism toward Karachi Zoo and they are of the opinion to boycott the Zoo culture.
