Earlier, a former driver of Sonu Nigam’s father had been accused of stealing INR7.2 million from the singer’s Mumbai home.
The theft took place on March 19 and 20 at the Windsor Grand building in Oshiwara, Andheri West, where Agamkumar, the singer’s father, lives.
According to the complaint, Agamkumar Nigam employed a driver named Rehan for nearly eight months before dismissing him due to poor performance. On Sunday afternoon, the driver went to Nikita’s house in the Versova neighborhood for lunch and then returned.
According to the official statement, he called Agamkumar Nigam’s daughter Nikita the same evening to inform her that INR4 million was missing from a digital locker kept in a wooden cupboard.
When Agamkumar returned to his flat the next day, he discovered another INR3.2 million missing from the locker, which had not been damaged.
Nigam and Nikita identified their former driver Rehan, who was seen carrying a bag toward their flat on both days they were gone, after reviewing CCTV footage.
According to the official statement, he suspects Rehan used a duplicate key to enter the flat and steal INR7.2 million from the digital locker in the bedroom.
Nikita filed a complaint with the Oshiwara police station, and a FIR was filed under Indian Penal Code sections 380, 454, and 457 for theft and trespassing for housebreaking. An investigation is currently underway, according to the official.
Now Mumbai Police have arrested the man who was accused of stealing Rs 72 lakhs from Sonu Nigam’s father, Agam Kumar Nigam. His name is Rehan. The man arrested was his former driver. The police also recovered Rs 70 lakh and 70 thousand from the accused.
