A billboard was used by a Connecticut man to propose to his girlfriend while they were visiting Times Square in New York.

Under a massive billboard bearing the words “Will You Marry Me” and a picture of the couple and their son, Jose Negron of Waterbury got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Alicia.

The offer was accepted by Alicia.

Negron claimed that the idea was inspired by an offer he discovered on timessquarebillboard.com, which gives people the chance to have their photos displayed on the online billboard. The $150 service shows the image for 15 seconds once every hour for 24 hours.

The billboard’s owner, Jaime Suarez, claimed that the concept was developed as a way to effectively utilize the available advertising space during the pandemic.

He claimed that a comparable deal would cost businesses $500 and would display a photo or brief video advertisement for 60 seconds every hour for 24 hours.

In January 2022, Muhammad Malik, a bachelor from Britain, used billboards in his own quest for love.

In Birmingham, England, Malik had several billboards put up pleading with available women to “Save me from an arranged marriage.” According to him, the ads generated hundreds of comments on his website.
