Gen Bajwa stated during the meeting at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi that Pakistan was dedicated to working with its foreign partners for regional peace.

The Chinese envoy also expressed gratitude to COAS Bajwa for taking exceptional measures to provide a safe and secure environment for CPEC projects in Pakistan, as well as efforts to promote regional stability.

The visiting dignitary expressed pleasure with the CPEC’s progress and emphasised the importance of completing the remaining projects on time.

Pakistan has decided to pay the 36 Chinese nationals who died and were injured in a terrorist assault last year, in order to eliminate a major source of friction between the two countries.

In July of last year, a suicide attack on a bus conveying Chinese nationals to the construction of the Dasu Hydropower Project killed ten people and injured another 26.

Over the last three and a half years, progress on CPEC has slowed significantly, and no new project has been approved by both parties within the project’s structure.
