Pakistan to ban traditional fans this year to save energy. The federal government has decided to restrict the manufacture and sale of conventional fans beginning in July of this year in order to save electricity as part of its energy conservation plan.

The ban has been recommended by the Ministry of Science and Technology and will be implemented through a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO).

According to reports, the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) has been tasked with ensuring the production of energy-efficient fans that use less than 80 watts of power.

In addition, the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has been directed to amend national standards for fan production in accordance with the government’s energy-saving plan.

Manufacturing and sale of fans in the one-star category that consumes less than 80 watts, as well as AC inverter fans that consume less than 45-50 watts of electricity, will be permitted.

The government also intends to prohibit the production of other home appliances with an energy efficiency of 90% or less.
