Qasim Ali Shah removed as Chairman of Alhamra Arts Council

Why has Qasim Ali Shah resigned as Lahore Arts Council chairman?

Qasim Ali Shah, a well-known educationist and motivational speaker, has been removed as Chairman of Alhamra Arts Council, making him the organization’s shortest-serving chairman.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) removed him from the post just days after he was appointed by caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, a close ally of the ruling PDM alliance.

The decision was later challenged in the Supreme Court, which restored the previous Boards of Governors.

The appointment of Shah drew widespread condemnation from PTI supporters, who also chastised him for his controversial remarks about their party’s leader, Imran Khan.

Earlier, Qasim Ali Shah has been appointed as Chairman of Alhamra Arts Council, despite the fact that the well-known motivational speaker is still dealing with the wrath of PTI supporters for his criticism of the former prime minister.

Shah posted about the development on social media. He is shown in the photo sitting in his new Lahore Arts Council office.

Qasim Ali Shah is a motivational speaker and corporate trainer. He has also worked to promote tourism in Uzbekistan.

He is the founder of the nonprofit organization Qasim Ali Shah Foundation. In 2018 he was the chairman of the book fair Lahore Festival.

In 2020, he stated in an interview that girls should go to school in order to learn how to be good wives and mothers and that those roles are the “ultimate goals” of a woman’s life. Extracts from the interview were shared on Twitter and heavily criticized.
