ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday commanded relevant officials to show no mercy to profiteers and hoarders, and emphasised the importance of beginning a strong public awareness campaign to dispel rumours of a urea shortage.
Imran presided over a conference to assess the country’s fertiliser demand and supply. During the previous week, the provision of around 19,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser each day was secured, according to the meeting.
The prime minister addressed the meeting, “No concessions should be offered to profiteers and hoarders.” He went on to say, “There is no lack of critical commodities in the country.” “To debunk rumours of a urea shortage, an effective public awareness campaign should be initiated.”
Fertilizer storage, according to Imran, could harm crop production during the Rabi season. He emphasised the importance of implementing administrative procedures to guarantee that farmers receive adequate fertiliser supplies. “For the first time in Pakistan’s history, the PTI administration has implemented farmer-friendly policies.”
