Mahmood Khan, the chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), declared on Saturday that the provincial assembly would be dissolved today. KP Assembly to be dissolved today.
Khan announced that this was his “final address” at a press conference in Peshawar because the K-P assembly would be dissolved today.
The minister declared that he reported to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, who would not make any more recommendations but would instead announce the date on which the K-P governor would get the summary for the dissolution.
Khan praised his cabinet and executive branch and noted that both success and failure were inherent in elections. According to the K-P CM, KP Assembly to be dissolved today. The PTI will receive a two-thirds majority of the vote in the upcoming elections based on its performance.
Khan also denounced the most recent terrorist attack on a police station in Peshawar where three police officers were martyred.
“The police have made immense sacrifices. We are trying to fight and eradicate terrorism,” he said.
The K-P chief minister referred to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah as a “joke” and claimed that if the province lost the war on terrorism, Sana would not be able to hide out in the Sindh or Punjab House.
Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, has previously stated that the K-P Assembly will also be dissolved when the Punjab Assembly was dissolved.
A spokesperson for the provincial government had previously stated that the government will receive the recommendation to dissolve the assembly in two days (today).
Mahmood Khan, the chief minister of K-P, had previously stated that the Punjab Parliament will be dissolved in 48 hours, following which he would advise the governor to dissolve the provincial assembly.
He had also said that there was no problem in K-P, but they would wait for the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.
He had added that after the dissolution of the K-P Assembly, a letter will also be written to the leader of the opposition, Akram Khan Durrani, for the appointment of a caretaker chief minister.
In order to keep his pledge to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi advised Governor Balighur Rehman to dissolve the Punjab Assembly. This action opened the door for new elections.
