SC moved for cut in salaries of senior judges

Supreme Court allows daughter to inherit father’s government job

The Supreme Court has received a petition calling for a reduction in senior judges’ pay, pensions, and benefits.

Advocate Zulfikar Bhatta requested under Article 184 (3) of the Supreme Court that the Supreme Court judges’ pensions and benefits be reduced due to the nation’s economic situation.

The petition demanded that the higher judiciary and other institutions be instructed to review the enormous pensions and other allowances, claiming that the government is burdening the populace rather than reducing the huge salaries, pensions, and other benefits.

It was written that due to the ongoing economic crisis in the country, the prices of food items had gone beyond the reach of the people.

Due to the bad economic conditions, people were forced to commit suicide, the petition said, adding that heavy salaries and benefits should be reviewed to deal with the economic crisis.
