New year celebrations have been in full flow in many parts of the world and 2023 has now arrived. World welcomes New Year 2023.
The Pacific nation of Kiribati was the first to welcome in the new year, followed by New Zealand an hour later and thousands gathered in Sydney for the Australian city’s renowned fireworks display.
Later, as the new year swept west through Europe and Africa, more cities welcomed 2023 with large crowds, fireworks, concerts, and parties.
It’s the first large New Year’s gathering without restrictions in Time Square. Partygoers watched the world-famous ball drop as they counted down to the new year. World welcomes New Year 2023.
South of the border Mexico also celebrated New Year, meaning 2023 is now truly underway in North America. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador will host US President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Mexico for the North American Leaders’ Summit in just over a week.
Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, and Haiti are ringing in the new year.
US President Joe Biden is also celebrating 2023, slightly ahead of the rest of his country. Biden and his wife Jill arrived in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands on Tuesday, celebrating the new year with their family.
The new year has also kicked off in most eastern parts of Canada.
