PM directs chief secretaries to ensure availability of urea

Government commits to transform Pakistan into welfare state

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan urged all provincial chief secretaries on Monday to take immediate action to ensure the supply of urea by preventing its unlawful export to neighbouring countries, particularly Afghanistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was briefed during a discussion on the Agri Transformation Plan that administrative action is being taken against persons who are causing a fake shortage of fertilisers.

He believes that greater mechanisation tools and ICT-enabled extension services will revolutionise agriculture in Pakistan. “To secure food security in the country, commercial-scale olive production and shrimp aquaculture are critical.” It will also aid in the improvement of exports,” he stated.

The debut of the Kissan Card, according to Prime Minister Imran Khan, will make it easier for farmers to buy machinery and agricultural products. The Prime Minister has asked the appropriate authorities to construct centres of excellence for research in major crops such as cotton, wheat, and rice in Punjab and KP.

He also told the government to set up calf-raising centres and use improved artificial insemination procedures to help the country’s livestock flourish and milk production improve.
