Six killed, 17 injured in Afghan Taliban attack on Chaman border

On Sunday, the Afghan Taliban stormed a residential neighborhood near the Pakistan-Afghan Chaman border, killing six people and injuring 17.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan’s army stated in a statement published here on Sunday that Afghan Border Forces opened unprovoked and indiscriminate fire of heavy weapons, including artillery and mortar, on civilians in Chaman, Balochistan.

According to the ISPR, six people were killed and 17 were injured as a result of the indiscriminate use of heavy weapons such as artillery and mortars against the civilian population in Chaman.

According to the ISPR, Pakistani border soldiers responded appropriately, albeit measuredly, to the uncalled-for violence, but avoided hitting innocent civilians in the region.

The ISPR further stated that Pakistan has also approached Afghan authorities at Kabul to highlight the severity of the situation and demanded strict action to obviate any such recurrence of the incident in the future.

On the other hand, the channel reported that the Chaman district administration has imposed an emergency in all hospitals to treat injured persons.

While Levies Balochistan officials said that the Afghan Taliban made a target of the civilian area of Pakistan in which many innocent people were killed and injured badly.

The Levies Balochistan officials said the Afghan Taliban hit the Pakistani residential area with mortar shells.

Interior Minister shows concern

Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah raised alarm about cross-border firing in Chaman, a Pakistan-Afghanistan border town.

He strongly condemned the attack on Pakistani civilians and asked the Balochistan government to fully support and aid the injured.

The minister offered his condolences and compassion to the relatives of the deceased and wished the injured individuals a swift recovery.

He stated that details about the terrible incident are being gathered because it is difficult and regrettable.
