Imran Khan starts legal action against Geo News in UK over Toshakhana claims

Ousted Imran Khan, the prime minister of Pakistan, filed a lawsuit in the United Kingdom against Geo News after the top news outlet accused him of “corruption.”

Two weeks ago, a media outlet known for criticizing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf reported that Farah Gogi and Shahzad Akbar allegedly sold a pricey Graff wristwatch that had been given to Imran Khan by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to an individual based in the United Arab Emirates.

In a recent social media post, the former premier announced that he instructed his legal team in Britain to start proceedings against Geo News pursuant to the Pre Action-Protocol for Media & Communications Claims.

He mentioned that a formal letter has been served today on Geo TV Limited in the United Kingdom and they have two-week time to respond.

In an appearance on the Geo News programme Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath last month, Umar Farooq, a millionaire Pakistani-Norwegian, initially asserted that he had proof that he had purchased the pricey watch and three other Toshakhana gifts from Farhat Shahzadi, a close friend of Imran Khan’s third wife Bushra Bibi.

Later, the Dubai-based company Styleout Watches denied rumours that it was buying or selling Toshakhana gifts.

The luxury watch dealer also disclosed that they were approached by an unnamed person to market this watch using their Instagram account, and they made it clear that any rumours that the watch was being sold for $250,000 were unfounded.
