In a rare occurrence, a woman went into labor in the Prophet Mosque courtyard and gave birth to a baby girl there.
The woman may have given birth while she was worshiping at the Prophet Mosque, according to a report in the Saudi Gazette that quotes the Director-General of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
According to Dr. Al-Zahrani, the woman was having contractions in the courtyard of Masjid-e-Nabwi. As the volunteer team from the Red Crescent Authority came, her water had ruptured and the baby’s head had popped out.
The team members then helped the mother safely deliver the baby. According to the director general of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, such situations necessitated moving the mother and infant to a nearby medical institution for medical care after the kid was born.
Dr. Al-Zahrani commended the team for safely delivering the baby girl, saying the team members get specialized medical training to deal with such situations. He further urged the masses to call 997 or use the ‘Help Me’ app to request an ambulance in case of an emergency.
As Kingdom eased all restrictions after the Covid pandemic, early 2 million pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia from parts of the world to perform the pilgrimage.
