To call it chaotic — at least over the verified accounts on Twitter — will be an understatement. Ever since Elon Musk walked into Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco, he has been adamant about getting users to pay $8 for Twitter Blue. The plan was rolled out but was ill-fated from the start.

A lot of impersonators ended up misusing the system and Musk said that the whole process of the Blue Verified account is on hold.

Musk said in a tweet, “Holding off the relaunch of Blue Verified until there is high confidence of stopping impersonation.” He also suggested that Twitter may go for different colored checks as well. “Will probably use different color check for organizations than individuals,” he added in the tweet.

Blue, grey, and gold check marks coming to TwitterNow, Musk has confirmed an all-new verification process is rolling out on December 2. “Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week,” he said in a tweet.

Musk also mentioned that different colored checkmarks will be rolled out. “Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not),” he said in the same tweet. Further, he also said that “all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before the check activates.” Musk is aware that this will take time, which is why he said, “painful, but necessary.

Individuals can have a secondary tiny logo showing they belong to an org if verified as such by that org,” he said in a tweet. A longer explanation is coming “next week”, said Musk. It’s still not clear how much Twitter Verified.
