PTI withdraws plea for rally, sit-in in Islamabad

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) withdrew its request for a non-objection certificate (NOC) to hold a rally and sit-in in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The PTI’s lawyer asked the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to accept the party’s request to withdraw its request for an Islamabad rally.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq granted the PTI’s request to withdraw its protest petition.

The petition against the PTI’s long march will be heard by the chief justice later today.

Earlier, the PTI formally requested permission from the Islamabad administration to hold a rally in Faizabad on November 26.

The petition was submitted by PTI Islamabad, President Ali Nawaz Awan.

According to the plea, the PTI chairman’s helicopter would land at the parade ground in Islamabad and then fly to Faizabad to lead the “true freedom march.”

“On November 18, with the permission of the Islamabad administration, a rally was held from Koral Chowk to Chak Belly Morr, Rawat while adhering to all the rules,” Ali Nawaz Awan stated in his petition.

“So far, all PTI rallies have been held peacefully.” “We are organizing a peaceful and democratic public meeting in Rawalpindi on November 26,” he had added.

“We request permission from the Islamabad administration for all peaceful PTI rallies to reach Faizabad.” “The PTI chairman’s helicopter should also be allowed to land on the parade ground,” he had demanded.
