Previously, after the election results were announced, losing candidates from several political parties contested the election results on the Mardan seat.

They had petitioned Pakistan’s Election Commission to investigate the situation.

Himayatullah Mayar has also served as District Nazim Mardan thrice and as a member of the district’s legislative assembly.

After a poor performance in the recent local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the Awami National Party (ANP) has disbanded its local organizational structure.

According to individuals familiar with the situation, the ANP leadership was irritated by poor voter turnout in the party’s favor and decided to dissolve all tehsil-level groups.

According to insiders, the party has also decided to take action against ANP leaders who have refused to support the party’s candidate in municipal elections.
