Another video leak – Shame at both ends

The issues of civil liberties and citizens’ basic rights were entirely disregarded in the midst of video leak scandal getting viral in Pakistan. With each passing day, citizens see trending videos of well-known politicians getting viral on social media. The question arises why leaked video scandal is rising up in the state day by day?

It has been observed that harmful malware, general app security flaws, password guessing, and malicious behavior from someone you know are just a few of the ways that images and videos might be leaked from a phone. They are then disseminated further online, either on specially designed websites or from person to person. These are the main methods through which images or videos can be taken and then leaked later on.

Moreover, an easy way for a total stranger to access your images is with malicious software. The programme allows the user to upload data from their phone to another device, after which they can covertly browse through the hacked images and videos.
It could be unsettling to find that harmful software doesn’t necessarily involve a computer virus or something similar. Any app that doesn’t safeguard access to your data can be found in the app store.

Numerous popular apps, such as TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat, have been abused in this way. Despite the fact that numerous popular apps have shared leaked videos and photos data without the users explicit consent, this does not imply that only these apps are harmful. In the era of social media, this leaked video culture has been normalized everywhere.

With respect to Pakistan, many higher ranked officers are bearing the brunt of shame related to their leaked private videos. Leaked video scandal is raising in Pakistan which is specifically targeting different officials. The recent example of Senator Azam Swati’s leaked video along side today Parvez Rasheed’s private video came infront of netizens which further flooded social media with tons of tweet for and against Pervez Rasheed. This leak video culture has also led to questioning characters of main officials running the state.

It would be not wrong to say that the issue of civil liberties and citizens’ basic rights is entirely disregarded in the midst of video leak culture uprising in Pakistan and is also leading to character sketching in the state.
