On Tuesday, Significant global and regional development were discussed by world leaders at SCO. The heads of delegations from the eight SCO member states discussed the most important steps to boost trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation within the organisation. They also exchanged opinions on important issues of global and regional development.
The 21st Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of SCO members states was hosted by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Tuesday via video link. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which was established in June 2001, currently has eight full members, including its six founding nations: China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. In 2017, Pakistan and India became full members.
The recent once every five years congress of the ruling Communist Party of China saw a significant reshuffle of officials, including Premier Li, who presided over the meeting via video link. Premier Li is scheduled to retire early in 2019. S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, participated in the conference call.
SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming, Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure Ruslan Mirzayev, and other heads of state and leaders from SCO member nations attended the meeting, according to a press statement from the SCO Secretariat here.

In Samarkand, Uzbekistan, last month, the SCO heads of state met for the first time in person in two years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping were present. The summit of the eight-member grouping, which India is now chairing, is anticipated to take place in the middle of next year.
