Shaheen pays no heed to Afridi's advice

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has stated that he advised pace bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi not to take over as captain for a few years, but the lanky fast bowler ignored the cricket legend’s advice.

During an appearance on a private television channel, Afridi said: “I had recommended Shaheen to hold off on assuming captaincy for a year or two so that he could concentrate on his bowling. He didn’t listen to me because he is also an Afridi.”

The talented fast bowler was selected captain of the Lahore Qalandars for the Pakistan Super League’s seventh edition earlier this week (PSL).

“I will try to do well for my side and maintain a good environment. I have players like [Mohammad Hafeez], Fakhar [Zaman], and Rashid [khan], who have the experience of captaincy, in the team which will help me in the leadership department,” the pacer said.

The latest season of the Pakistan Super League will be held in Karachi from January 27 to February 7 and in Lahore from February 10 to February 27.

The inaugural match will take place under the lights of the National Stadium, between the Karachi Kings and the Multan Sultans.
