We will make Arshad Sharif Journalism University in Punjab: Khan
PTI Chairman Imran Khan while addressing his long March said that he will build a memorial University for journalism in Punjab, Pakistan. The Journalism University will be named after the martyred journalist Arshad Sharif.
Arshad Sharif was a renowned Pakistani journalist and anchor who was assassinated by the Kenyan police on 23rd October 2022. Arshad was working on a Netflix series “Behind Closed Doors” to expose the network of corrupt governments and politicians across the world.
The fallen journalist was popular for conducting true investigative journalism and he had to leave Pakistan because authorities were after him due to his freedom of expression. Unfortunately, despite leaving Pakistan, he became a soft target of those who wanted to suppress his voice.
Kenya police kill journalist Arshad Sharif: Wife
Journalist Arshad Sharif reportedly died in Kenya after being shot, according to his wife Javeria Siddique, who made the announcement early on Monday.
She wrote, “I lost my buddy, husband, and my favorite journalist today. According to the police, he was shot in Kenya.”
Asim Iftikhar, a spokesman for the Foreign Office, stated that the Pakistan High Commission in Kenya was gathering information from the authorities.
Coworkers and politicians expressed their condolences following the journalist’s loss.
“Arshad Shareef, my brother, my buddy, and my coworker, was shot to death in Kenya… It still defies belief. It’s quite tragic. Just wrong. This is hurtful. I love you, brother,” tweeted Kashif Abbasi, an anchor for ARY News.
The host of Geo News, Shahzeb Khanzada, expressed his profound sadness at the shocking information.
Not just a coworker, but also a brother, Arshad Sharif, has passed away. I haven’t met a finer man from Islamabad to Moscow, from Dunya News to ARY. Killer shot. Too little. Too cruelly, tweeted Meher Bokhari, an anchor for Hum News.
The news of Sharif’s passing also caused Senator Azam Swati to express his shock.
